For sale is a Cartier Santos Ronde GMT Power Reserve Ref. W20038R3, crafted in stainless steel and 18k yellow gold. Released in 1997 to celebrate Cartier’s 150th anniversary, this special edition was limited to 1,847 individually numbered pieces, a tribute to the maison’s founding year.

The Dial
The silver dial features an intricate guilloché centre, framed by bold black Roman numerals and a railway minute track. Blued-steel sword hands provide a beautiful contrast, while Cartier’s discreet signature is incorporated into the VII numeral.

At 12 o’clock, the GMT subdial features a globe motif and a 24-hour scale for displaying a second time zone. A fan-shaped power-reserve indicator sits at 6 o’clock, balanced by a circular date window at 3 o’clock. These details give the dial a distinctive appearance while retaining Cartier’s familiar elegance.

The Case
Measuring approximately 33.5mm across, the stainless-steel case offers classic, understated proportions. The round 18k yellow gold bezel features exposed screws, complemented by the angular case shoulders and a crown set with a striking faceted red stone.

The caseback carries the commemorative 1847–1997 engraving and the watch’s individual limited-edition number, marking its place within this anniversary collection.

The Bracelet
The watch is fitted with its matching Cartier bracelet, featuring gently curved stainless-steel links accented by yellow gold screws. The bracelet flows neatly from the case and is secured by a folding clasp bearing Cartier’s double-C emblem, completing the distinctive Santos aesthetic.

The Movement
Powered by the Cartier calibre 051 automatic movement, the watch combines central hours, minutes and seconds with a date display, second time zone and power-reserve indication. The automatic winding system offers everyday convenience, while the reserve indicator allows the remaining stored energy to be read directly from the dial.
