Rolex Day-Date 36mm Buckley Dial - Ref. 1803

For sale is a beautiful Rolex Day-Date Ref. 1803 from 1966, crafted in 18k yellow gold and featuring a white Buckley dial with black Roman numerals and matching black hands. Presented on a black leather strap, this example is in excellent vintage condition and is accompanied by an original Rolex box.

The Dial
The white Buckley dial features distinctive printed black Roman numerals and matching black hands, creating a striking contrast against the lightly textured white surface. The luminous plots and hand inserts have aged to a lovely creamy colour, adding a desirable vintage character. A fine black outer minute track frames the design, while an applied gold Rolex coronet provides a subtle link to the yellow gold case. The day window at 12 o’clock displays the day in Spanish, with the date positioned at 3 o’clock beneath the Cyclops magnifier.

The Case
Crafted from solid 18k yellow gold, the 36mm case has the classic proportions that make the vintage Day-Date so appealing on the wrist. The fluted bezel catches the light beautifully, framing the white dial and adding depth to the design. The lugs retain a well-defined profile, while the Rolex-signed crown completes the familiar silhouette.

The Strap
The watch is fitted with a generic black leather strap with a glossy, textured finish that complements the black Roman numerals and hands. It is secured by a generic gold-tone pin buckle bearing the Rolex coronet logo. Both the strap and buckle are aftermarket accessories.

The Movement
Powered by a Rolex automatic movement, the watch features central hours, minutes and seconds, alongside the signature day and date displays. The self-winding mechanism winds the movement through the natural motion of the wrist.
