Rolex Oyster Perpetual 34mm - Ref. 1002

For sale is a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Ref. 1002 from 1969, crafted in solid 18k yellow gold and featuring a rare grey sunburst dial. Paired with a textured brown leather strap, this example combines the understated proportions of a vintage Oyster Perpetual with a particularly attractive dial configuration.

The Dial
The grey sunburst dial provides a beautiful contrast to the yellow gold case, complemented by gold lettering, matching hands and distinctive ridged baton hour markers. An applied Rolex coronet sits at 12 o’clock, while a fine gold minute track frames the dial. The lume plots have aged to a warm beige tone adding subtle vintage character to the clean, balanced layout.

The Case
Crafted from solid 18k yellow gold, the 34mm Oyster case features a smooth bezel and gently tapered lugs, giving the watch an elegant presence on the wrist. The simple bezel allows the grey dial to take centre stage, while the Rolex-signed crown completes the classic design.

The Strap
The watch is fitted to a generic brown leather strap with a pronounced grain and contrasting cream stitching. It is secured by a generic gold-tone pin buckle bearing a Rolex-style coronet. Both the strap and buckle are aftermarket items.

The Movement
Powered by a Rolex automatic movement, the watch features central hours, minutes and sweeping seconds. Its self-winding mechanism winds with the movement of the wrist, and the watch is in full working order.

Condition
The watch is in excellent overall vintage condition, with light signs of wear consistent with its age.

Please note that the caseback is dented, as shown in the photographs. This damage is purely cosmetic and does not affect the watch’s operation. Located on the underside of the case, it is not visible when the watch is worn.
