For sale is an exceptional Rolex Oysterquartz Datejust Ref. 17013, a beautifully preserved example of Rolex’s distinctive quartz-era design, crafted in stainless steel and 18k yellow gold and presented in excellent condition.

Contents & Condition
Presented in immaculate condition, this watch is accompanied by its original box and papers, dated 1990.

The Dial
This reference features the classic and highly desirable champagne dial, a hallmark of two-tone Datejust models. The sunburst finish catches the light elegantly, offering warmth and depth that complement the gold accents throughout the watch. Applied gold baton hour markers and matching hands provide crisp legibility, while the date aperture at 3 o’clock is enhanced by the iconic Cyclops lens.

The Case and Bracelet
The 36mm angular Oysterquartz case—a defining feature of the collection—gives this model its bold and modernist presence. Crafted from a combination of stainless steel and 18k yellow gold, the case retains its sharp geometry and clean lines. The fluted 18k yellow gold bezel adds a touch of classic Rolex refinement, creating a striking contrast with the angular architecture of the case.

This reference is paired with the integrated two-tone Jubilee-style Oysterquartz bracelet, designed specifically for the Oysterquartz line. Its tight links, solid construction, and secure clasp make it both comfortable and visually cohesive with the case.

The Movement
Powering the watch is the in-house Rolex Caliber 5035 quartz movement, a highly engineered, thermo-compensated quartz caliber that set new standards for accuracy in its era. COSC-certified, robust, and reliable, the 5035 movement includes a quickset date function and hacking seconds, offering both precision and convenience.

The Oysterquartz Legacy
Introduced in the late 1970s, the Oysterquartz line represents Rolex’s forward-thinking response to the quartz revolution. Far from a simple battery-powered alternative, these watches were engineered with the same meticulous attention to detail as their mechanical counterparts. Their bold case design and low production numbers have made Oysterquartz models some of the most unique and collectible watches in the Rolex catalog.
